Dream Closet : Pinterest Inspired

Pinterest is the answer to all my problems these days and I’m sure it is just not me who thinks this way. Let’s just take a moment to thank the internet universe for Pinterest. No matter what I am searching for I always end up on this site, eventually spending hours.

Currently, I’m obsessing about walk-in closets and thought of sharing my dream list here in pictures straight out of pinterest. I have a board now dedicated for it  so I can  be inspired when I’ll be getting mine done in the near future.

There are few pointers that I will be considering, such as

  1. I want a spacious walk in closet which should be inviting enough to lift my mood after a hectic day.
  2. The lighting should close to natural day light.
  3. Ofcourse a huge mirror.
  4. A good couch to be placed in the middle to sit on and ponder over what to wear when there is nothing to wear..get it 😉
  5. Dedicated sections for everything : clothes, shoes, accessories and makeup.
  6. Small area for The Man 😀
  7. A place to keep my “next-morning” outfit ready.

Below are few images that I absolutely adore and wanted to share with you:

Got Your Myntra App Yet? #ItsPersonal

Myntra has gone “the APP” way and why should you care about that?

myntra

You should if you are someone who has FOMO ( fear of missing out) syndrome, be part of the future now. Well, in all seriousness it should matter to you if you are into –

  1. Online shopping – Do you want to shop in this heat? I bet you don’t. Even though most of our shopping is done at a mall which is equipped with air conditioning I still squirm a little every time I think of getting out during the day. The thought of heat and traffic kills all the pleasure of retail therapy for me. I love this app because it helps me to beat the Delhi heat and traffic while  I shop in the comfort of my Pj’s at home. IMG_3771
  2. Reading articles and getting informed – I get my dose of update from social media and article forums. Myntra app is well endowed with engaging articles. This surely helps me kill my boredom when I travel alone or when I am in mood for some interesting read. For example after reading the below article on Mytra app I was shocked to know that women sported fuller brows using mouse skin. YIKES.       IMG_3773
  3. Window shopping – who doesn’t love window shopping. I surely do. There are days when a window retail therapy helps just as much as the actual thing. This also helps me to plan out my next purchases. When you have exceeded your shopping limit updating the wish list for the next month keeps you busy :). Myntra app is the source of my “planning” aka updating my wish list. IMG_3772
  4. Personal Shopper . This has to be one of my favorite part of this app. It’s like having a personal stylist who helps you in putting a look together. There are so many items of clothing that one is bound to get lost. So while you are looking for a dress for a formal event the app shows you different items that will go well with the outfit.           IMG_3808 IMG_3804 IMG_3806
  5. Flash sales. Never miss out on any sale. This app will send you notifications of on going & upcoming sale and you can immediately grab things you’d like. Any time a 70% OFF notification pops up it surely interests me and I believe I am not the only one 😉IMG_3802

All these reasons should make you get the Myntra APP now. The future of shopping is already here and #itsPersonal 🙂

New Hair Color – Geetanjali Salon Review

Hey there!

I got my hair colored this week and I am beyond excited to have found a great place in Gurgaon for this experience. Geetanjali Salon in Ambience Mall Gurgaon was the place where I went without any recommendation, but I can now vouch for a global hair color from them.

One of my best friend wanted to get her hair colored and wanted to know if I knew any good place for color. I knew a great place in Dubai – Krysalis Salon & Spa and a great hairstylist – Sugandh. I have had my first color and some of the best haircuts from this young talented lady. If anyone is looking for an awesome salon/spa in Dubai then do check out this place. Krysalis has amazing staff and a great ambience. You truly would enjoy being pampered there.

Now coming back to my friend and her desire to find a great place in Delhi/NCR region. I did not have a clue and for the same reason I did a bit of research online to find a good place for global hair color in Gurgaon. I could not really find much so we thought of heading to a mall where we would find few high end salons who might not screw up our hair.

And lo behold we were standing in front of Geetanjali Salon. I asked them if they would take in two clients for hair color without prior appointment and they said yes – *Brownie Point* . We were escorted to our chairs and introduced to our stylist – Mr. Khan. I told him about the exact shade that I want ( Thanks to Sugandh who made sure I take down the shade number in case I wanted to do the same color. Shade is L’oreal 6.35 mixed with 7.35 – mix together 50:50 in case they do not have the color ask for Copper brown) Khan told me he can do it *Brownie Point*

Since, my friend was new to the hair color experience she waned to go with the same shade, however, Khan mentioned it would be a bit loud for someone who is getting her hair colored for the first time. Instead he suggested to go more subtle with the shade but still in the same color family. This made him gain few extra brownie points as he was investing his suggestions and not just looking forward to mint money. *Extra Brownie Points*

After his honest opinion my friend and I had more confidence on Khan and asked him to take take charge of our hair. An application of the color mixture lasted 10 minutes and another 35-40 minutes for it to stay on. During this process the staff offered us refreshments and a cuppa chai was ordered. After 40 minutes time was to head towards washing off the color. I must admit I hate these sessions since I do not like the backwash chairs as they hurt my neck after a while. However, I loved the way it was done. The massage session while shampooing was soooo good, I actually learnt few tips from the person on how to massage your scalp properly while shampooing to stimulate blood circulation. *Brownie Point*

Once I got back to the chair , Khan blow dried my hair and styled them perfectly *Brownie Point*. Needless to say I was in love with it.

So all in all I would highly recommend Geetanjali Salon & Khan in Ambience Mall, if you are looking for a change.

Cost for me – Rs. 4500/-

Mumbai Wedding Part II

Hey there!

YES! It is true that Indian weddings are a week long process or have three/four days celebations ( especially Hindu weddings) . We had quite a few ceremonies for this wedding and a lot of sleepless nights when all the “young crowd” would gather in one room.

All weddings give you an opportunity to meet different set of people from all walks of life, who some how are connected with the couple getting married. This wedding was no different from this point. I met so many different personalties here – teenagers and their love interests; brothers and their protective instincts; mothers and their hopes & dreams for their kids; siblings and their unconditional love for each other; hilarious couple and their funny stories and last but not the least an Indian American who was worried her accent would get too Indian’ized by the time she returns back to Seattle.

Right now, as I’m penning down my post the happily married couple have settled down in their new home are starting their new journey together. I wish the couple lifetime of happiness since both of them are amazing ( Well I can surely say that about the bride, not too sure about to groom.. 😛 just kidding)

Just to give a taste of these ceremonies below are some shots. Hope you all will enjoy these pictures 🙂

She is Anna Marie Lopes – Bravely Chic

I was planning on my next post to be from wedding series. I will be writing about that in an upcoming post, but, for now I’d love to write about my friend Anna who got honored at SRL Diagnostics “Women of Substance” event today.

She called me to ask if I would like to be one of her guests for the event. I had to say yes (there was no two ways about it) .

IMG_3238

She is a domestic violence survivor – more like a conquerer I’d say. For 6 years she was living in an abusive relationship with her now ex-husband. I can’t describe in words her struggle but all I can say is that she was able to gather the broken pieces and build a new life. A ‘beautiful’ brave new life.

Here is an interview she gave to BBC a while back
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-29708612

Apart from Anna there were 4 more women who shared their stories with us.

An Acid Attack Survivor

A Cancer Survivor

A philanthropist

A Lady Cab Driver ( female cab drivers are rare in India)

Here are some of the images from the event

If you know someone who is struggling or has come out of their struggle then , please, be there for them in true sense. If you are undergoing some issue then ,please, share your story with someone and get help. If these women did not share their story with someone, at some point in their life, they probably would not have gotten their help.

Let’s be kind to one another.

Bachelorette Party : Mumbai Wedding Part 1

Hey,

Long time no see – Long time no post. Well, wedding season kicked in this month for me & that too close friend & family members were having their big day. Last week I was attending one of my close friend’s wedding in Mumbai and I thought of sharing the story here – Behind the scene stories with pictures 😉

Part 1 is dedicated to our Girl’s night out = Bachelorette Party.

Weddings are great fun and this one was no exception. We stayed the night at a hotel since we knew there was lot to catch up on and lot to do. After dressing up we got drinks on the house as a gesture from our hotel for the Bride & her girls *win-win situation*. Later that night we drove down to Four Seasons Hotel – AER Lounge. A gorgeous roof top lounge which was perfect for the night and the view was breathtaking.

Once we got back to our room we got into our PJ’s and had a late girlie night gossip session. By end of the night I made two new gorgeous friends for life 🙂

Can’t wait to show you more pictures of this amazing Indian wedding. Part 2 coming soon 🙂

Have you attended a wedding lately?
