Suncote Gel Sunscreen

suncote.jpg

Hey there!

Let’s talk about all about sunscreen today. First thing first, its a must to apply sunscreen every day. Sunscreen for oily skin is as important as it is for dry skin or normal skin. Often times oily skin people skip either moisturizer or sunscreen thinking they don’t need the added layer of lotion or cream on their oily skin. Well, that is a big no-no when it comes to skincare. Every one needs to hydrate their skin and use an SPF protection.

No matter what your skin type is, you need to apply sunscreen to protect yourself from damaging your skin due to harmful sun rays. Here is a list of reasons why Sunscreen is important:

  1. Prevents premature aging
  2. Prevents tanning
  3. Protects from UV rays
  4. Protects against sunburn
  5. Reduces chance of skin cancer
  6. Prevents dark spots, age spots, brown spots caused by sun

I have been loving suncote gel sunscreen for past couple of years. I was introduced to this amazing sunscreen by my dermatologists and I have not looked back. This suncreen is the best sunscreen for acne prone skin like mine. Also, it is one of the best sunscreen for oily skin. I have recommended this sunscreen to so many of my friends when they were on a hunt for a great sunscreen.  This light weight sunscreen from suncote leaves no white cast which is a major plus in my opinion.

Pros of Sunconte gel:

  • It is a Gel based sunscreen hence it does not feel heavy on the skin.
  • It is a translucent gel and leaves no white cast.
  • Does not cause pimples/ breakouts.
  • Prescribed by dermatologists.
  • Great for acne prone or sensitive skin.
  • SPF of 30 which is great for Indian weather.

Effective Acne Mask Aztec Indian Healing Clay

Masks for an acne prone- oily skin means business. For me masks are also stress buster since taking out time from a busy schedule to focus on myself is bliss.
For past 5 years I have suffered from adult-acne which has made me try out numerous amazing and not-so-amazing face masks. Some has helped me tame my skin while some have not done anything or have made my breakouts worse. When you go on a hunt to find out best acne masks you would get tons of options.
Here I’m sharing a mask which is not only overtly hyped but also has truly helped my skin look and feel better.
aztec indian healing clay apple cider vinegar
Aztec Indian healing clay with 100% bentonite clay. I have been using this mask for over 5 months with apple cider vinegar. The mask works best with ACV as the label over the mask says and so have a lot of Youtuber and blogger recommended.
Pros:
Helps to keep breakouts under control
Huge quantity in one tub which will make it last a long time
Helps to deep cleanse my skin
Leaves my skin smoother after rinsing it off
Cons:
Can be tedious to rinse off.
I bought this from Amazon.in, you can get it here : http://goo.gl/B2cciE

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm Review

Removal of makeup is one of the most important step for making sure your makeup looks amazing. If you do not remove all that product from your face every evening/ night you probably (read always) will end up messing up your skin. I have personally suffered plenty of times by not taking this simple step. Well, now that I have learnt my lesson I’d like to introduce you to my makeup removing buddy Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm.

Clinique Take The Day Off

Solid cleansing balm

There are two ways I use this for removing my make up:

1. I scoop out a pea size amount of balm and rub onto my palm to warm the product. I then apply it all over my face gently and my makeup starts to melt.

2. I wet a cotton round and swipe it over the product directly into the tub. I then apply the product infused cotton round all over my face to breakdown all the makeup. *This method was introduced to me by the Sephora sales girl and I quite like this method*

After any of these method I wash my face with any gentle cleanser and water.

Pros:

  • Huge tub to last long
  • Melts my makeup easily, waterproof makeup as well.
  • Doesn’t dry out my skin.
  • Didn’t break me out which is a huge plus

Cons:

  • Can be considered unhygienic because of the tub shape. I personally don’t find this as an issue since I don’t have to share it with anyone.
  • Expensive. But the tub is huge.

The product retails for Rs. 2750/- for 125ml at Sephora.

Mini M.A.C store rant + Mini NewU Haul

Hello Gorgeous!

As the title suggests, it a rant and a haul. So here goes the story:

I went to the mall with the sole aim of drooling over and purchasing the Cinderella collection from M.A.C. But guess what happened! I was told this collection was not released in India and will not be since “they” think it will not be good for Indian skin tone.

WHAT – Are you kidding me? Let the bazillion girls in India decide if it will suit them or not. You should have got some of it and then should have seen how the sales were doing. Only thing an Indian girl residing in India will do is ask her friends to grab it for her from elsewhere. (MAC India read this as giving your sales to another country.. GRRR)

I was so mad that I did not buy anything from M.A.C. even though I heard few lipsticks calling my name  *Ashaaaa Take me, Take me*

Eventually I headed to a much humble abode of drugstore makeup – NewU. I bought few products from there, some of them were tried and tested by me before and some were new ( read impulse purchase)

So here are my picks –

new u info

Maybelline Baby Lips – Tried and tested before

baby lips

This is my 4th tube which I will end up using till its last breath. This stuff is the best lip balm available in the market. The pop of color that it gives me is perfect. Once I apply this to my bare lips it makes them look a nicer version of my own, so it is great for a “no makeup look” days. Rps 150 for 4.5 g

L’oreal Colour Protect Protecting Shampoo – Tried and tested before

loreal

This is my second shampoo bottle after getting my hair colored for the third time ( makes sense?). Last time when I got my hair colored I picked up this shampoo along with a conditioner from same line. Both together were good enough to keep my new hair color happy and intact for a long time. The conditioner did a great job to keep the “oh bit damaged” hair strands conditioned. I wanted to grab the conditioner along with this shampoo but NewU did not have any left with them – bummer! Rs. 145 for 175ml

Lakmé Eyeconic Green Impulse purchase

lakme

Spring is here and this required me to get some pop of color in my makeup bag, yet again. Yes, I need more of those colorful liners – black doesn’t do justice for everyday. This liner is amazing but it’s not smudge proof, so an oily lid or a sweaty day would ruin the look ( Hello Summer). Getting back to its plus points the product has a great color pay off and I love this emerald-green shade. It will suit indian skin tone / olive skin tone beautifully. Rs. 250 for .35 g

Beauty Formulas Tea Tree Wipes – Impulse purchase

tea tree

Well, this one I got just because it said “beauty formulas” and “Tea Tree” in the same package. Any acne prone human being will support  tea tree just the way an indian cricket fan supports India during a match. It’s like you have an immense faith in this ingredient which is similar to the faith bestowed on those 11 players on the field. Getting back to its plus points, these wipes are great to wipe away your makeup but you still need to wash your face before hitting the bed. I know it’s a task which every lazy girl hates but an acne prone girl just can take that risk, so i always try to wash my face no matter what. These wipes smell lovely to me since I love the main ingredient and it sort of refreshes my face. Rs. 229 for 30 wipes

So basically, M.A.C Cinderella collection helped me save a lot of money 🙂 but I am still mad since I couldn’t get to play with it :(.

Have you tried any of these above products or the gorgeous Cinderella collection ?

Review – Lancôme City Miracle CC cream

Lancôme Ciy Miracle CC cream

lancome cc cream review

From the time I moved to Delhi from Dubai I have encountered a  lot of changes. One was not being able to find my regular daily use tinted moisturizer since that brand is not easily available in Delhi. After a lot of search / research & impulsive decision I bought Lancôme City Miracle CC cream.

It is the 1st CC Cream by Lancôme. The brand claims to have tested the product in some of the world’s polluted cities. City Miracle corrects the appearance of imperfections and beautifies complexion.

I have been using the product for over 2 months and I can say I really like the product. It surely has its pros & cons.

The product claims its Benefits:

Perfects like a foundation. Beautifies like an illuminator. Hydrates like a moisturiser. With SPF 50 to help protect the skin.

What I found out from my experience:

Pros:

  • Did not break me out. A HUGE plus point for me.
  • It gives low-medium coverage and blurs the imperfection.
  • You need just a little bit of product for your entire face.
  • It definitely beautifies like an illuminator. Hence becomes a great product for winters. Say hello the lovely “Glow”
  • Hydrates well and you would not feel your skin wanting for more for the whole day. ( I have Oily skin type for Dry skin type the answer might be bit different)
  • SPF 50 is one of its best quality without any white cast.
  • The product blends into your skin beautifully.
  • It smells nice but the fragrance is not too heavy (for those who like their products fragrance free)
  • The packaging is chic.

Cons:

  • It does not provide enough coverage. One would need concealor.
  • It is pricey for a 30 ml tube.
  • You would need to powder during the day as the “Glow” gets a bit too much after few hours.
  • It has only 3 shades.
  • Over all I do love the product and if anyone is looking for a high-end CC cream I would suggest you to try it.

I bought it for Rs 3200 from Sephora.

Also I made a youtube video reviewing the product in details + application of the product. You can check the video here –

Have you tried this CC cream? Which is your favorite cc cream so far?

Essential Chic Fixation – Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Cleansing & Toning Lotion.

Hello!

Toner

Recently a friend enquired me about a particular face wash she wanted to try mainly due to ugly blemishes knocking her skin “door”. After speaking with her for a while I found out she wasn’t really using any toner – Aha – that was a perfect opportunity for me to explain why she should start using it rather than investing in other new products. Essential Chic Fixation – The Body Shop : Tea Tree Face Mask

Say Hello to“The Green Face Monster”   IMG_1858

Time and again I head straight for this look  aka apply one of my essential face mask of all time that helps me deal with my amazingly cooperative (sarcasm) skin.

I have been suffering from hormonal acne for past 4 years which has resulted in me hunting for a lot of commercial or natural products. These interesting 4 years taught me a thing or two about skincare (visits to dermatologist + internet search + internal voice have added to this skincare knowledge reservoir)

The Body Shop : Tea Tree Face Mask is one of the first products that I tried when hormonal acne hit my once clear skin. The term clear skin now haunts me everyday & night. Any one who has suffered from acne will understand the pain of not having clear skin 😦 It surely brings one’s confidence way below bar.

But guess what – You gats to deal with what you gats to deal!! (there goes my inner  preacher preaching)

Things to do when “peeling”

So I have done 3 sessions of Dermalogica Bio Active Peel here in Dubai ( It will launch in this region in November, however, I work with this brand so I have got the chance to do it ) Over all what happens to your skin after any kind of “chemical” peeling is that you shed skin like a snake. Yes! my face literally looks like its shedding from every nook & corners of my face – my nose, my chin, around my mouth, my cheeks, my forehead (you name it & I am peeling from there)

So, these are few things I would insist on anyone who gets a peel done –

*Hydration booster/serum. After a peel you would need to make sure you have some kind of hydration booster/serum with you. Before starting your day ( before applying makeup) you should apply thin layer of hydration booster to keep your skin hydrated throughout the day.

*Cleanse. Make sure you wash your face with a gentle cleanser be it creamy or gel like. You would want to stay away from harsh cleansers as your sensitive (peeled) skin would not appreciate it.

*Moisturize. No explanation needed for this one. You will automatically feel the need to keep your skin hydrated once you start to peel like crazy.

*Sunscreen is your best friend. Repeat it to yourself every single morning before stepping out and lather that sunscreen baby to max. After peeling your skin is highly sensitive to pigmentation so to avoid all those black spots/sunburn /pigmentation apply sunscreen

Hydrate. Drink plenty of fluids to keep yourself hydrated from within. Basically do not depend on physical hydration alone.

Facial Mist. As the day goes on you would notice your skin would get more & more flaky. Do not peel it off. Let it come off on its own. To help with this flakiness you can spritz a hydrating toner/spray that will soothe your skin and give it moisture.

Makeup. This is something you can do away with if you are staying indoors, that is, you are not going to meet anyone except your family members ( because they have seen you in your ugly PJ’s and they still love you and not judge you – up until you haven’t showered for 2 days.. yikes) If you are working or have to meet a lot of people every single day I would suggest to prep your skin properly and then try to use cream or liquid makeup. Powders would not help as they would unfortunately highlight the patchiness.

These are few of things that I am keeping a track of since my peeling.

If anyone out there is also going through the same, hopefully, these tips will help 🙂
